Música Fecha de publicación: 09/29/2009 Cita anual con Vicente Fernández / WITH ENGLISH VERSION El 18 de octubre la comunidad mexicana vuelve a encontrarse con su ídolo, el más alto exponente de la música mexicana de los últimos tiempos en Allstate Arena. ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Vicente Fernández Gómez nació el 17 de febrero de 1940 en Huentitán el Alto, Jalisco. Casado con María del Refugio Abarca Villaseñor, tiene cuatro hijos: Vicente, Gerardo, Alejandro y Alejandra. Es hijo del ranchero Ramón Fernández y de la ama de casa Paula Gómez de Fernández. En 1946, a los 6 años, su pasión por las rancheras sorprende. el pequeño Chente sueña con ser estrella; en ese mismo año, él y su familia se mudan a Tijuana, en el estado de Baja California. A los 8 años recibe su primera guitarra y aprende a interpretar canciones folclóricas, al mismo tiempo en que sus padres lo llevan a ver películas de Pedro Infante. En 1954 ganó un concurso aficionado en Guadalajara. En aquella época, Vicente trabajaba como lavaplatos, albañil, peón, aseador y otros oficios humildes. Cinco años después llegó al restaurante típico de un tío y se desempeñó como cajero. En el lugar se presentaban tríos y mariachis; es ahí donde comenzó a cantar sin recibir salario. En 1960 llegó a Ciudad de México y el primer lugar que visitó fue la Plaza Garibaldi, donde preguntaba por restaurantes en donde le fuera posible cantar a cambio de propinas. Alguien le señaló el local tradicional de El Amanecer Tapatío, donde hizo sus primeros pinitos. Desde 1961 hasta 1963 cantó con el Mariachi de Pepe Mendoza. Tiempo después, Fernández participó como vocalista en el Mariachi de José Luis Aguilar con Felipe Arriaga. Este cantante tuvo una relación muy cercana a Vicente y fue una persona tan importante en su vida como Federico Méndez Tejeda. A los 21 años participo en el programa La calandria musical. En 1963, su madre, Paula Gómez de Fernández, murió de cáncer de seno a los 47 años de edad. Vicente dejó el restaurante El Amanecer Tapatío y regresó a Guadalajara. El 27 de diciembre de ese mismo año se casó con María del Refugio Cuquita Abarca Villaseñor, quien era su vecina. Un año después nació su hijo, Vicente Fernández Jr., en medio de una dura situación económica. Vicente Jr. nació depués de seís meses y medio de gestación. Luego, Chente ingresó a trabajar al cabaret El Sarape, donde consiguió un sueldo como cantante. Se presentó en el Teatro Blanquita de México. También entró a trabajar en Televisa, donde conoció a Raúl Velasco y tuvo la oportunidad de interpretar temas como Tu camino y el mío o Volver volver. Entre los mejores recuerdos de su carrera musical está un día muy especial: cuando cantó en la Plaza de México en el Distrito Federal ante más de cincuenta mil personas. Todavía hoy en día es el único artista que ha conseguido un éxito así. El 14 de febrero de 2009 logró romper récord en el Zócalo de la Ciudad de México con la asistencia de más de 219 mil personas. Vicente Fernández Gómez, (born February 17, 1940, Huentitan el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico). Known as el "El Idolo de Mexico" (the idol of Mexico) and "El Rey" (The King) throughout the Latin world, Vicente Fernandez, who started his career singing for tips on the street, has become a Mexican cultural icon, recording more than 50 albums and contributing to 40 movies. His repertoire is pure ranchera, a style described by Daniel Chang of the Miami Herald as representing "the Mexico of old – a way of life romanticized by rural ranches, revolution, and philandering caballeros". He has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. Fernandez spent the early years of his life on his father Ramon´s ranch on the outskirts of Guadalajara. As a little boy Vicente also worked at a young age, he worked for his uncle as a waiter, dish washer, cashier, and finally the manager of his uncles restaurant. He was known to all the people as "Chente". Here the idyllic ranchera lifestyle was instilled in him. His mother often took him to see the films of Pedro Infante. As a boy he sang at a festival in Arandas, Mexico where he was terribly booed. Later in his life at the age of twenty-one he competed in a contest where he won thirty-one pesos. But In 1954, Fernandez won an amateur contest sponsored by a Guadalajara television station. It was his first break into performing and he began to play at local clubs and gatherings. Around this time, however, Fernandez´s father lost the ranch and the family moved into the city of Tijuana. Fernandez, who had dropped out of school in the fifth grade, began working odd jobs in the city such as janitor, dishwasher, waiter – whatever he could find. All the while, he still held to his musical aspirations. Fernandez´s career took off at that point and has been nonstop ever since. He branched into acting with the film Uno y medio contra el mundo, released in 1971. His first hit movie, for which he did the soundtrack, was La ley del monte, released in 1974. In the span of 20 years Fernandez has acted, sung, and worked behind the scenes on more than 40 films. He stopped acting in 1991, feeling that he was too old to maintain the proper image for his movies.
