ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Chicago, IL –– En una reciente recepción especial, la Confederación de Federaciones Mexicanas del Medio Oeste (CONFEMEX) y la Universidad St. Augustine anunciaron la formación del “Fondo de Becas Oportunidad”. CONFEMEX y St. Augustine contribuyeron en el establecimiento de un fondo de beca inicial de $10,000 dólares, con el objetivo de incrementar este fondo en el futuro. El objetivo de esta iniciativa es proveer el acceso a una educación superior a personas y familias afiliadas a CONFEMEX que viven en el área metropolitana de Chicago, sin importar su estatus legal, y quienes muestren una necesidad económica para continuar con su educación universitaria. Las becas de $500 y $1,000 dólares serán entregadas a estudiantes que estudien en St. Augustine. En este evento, a los primeros tres beneficiarios les serán otorgadas las becas de $1,000: Rolando Reynoso, Oscar Jaques y Martha Balleza. “Estamos encantados de unir esfuerzos con CONFEMEX para crear oportunidades para nuestra comunidad y obtener el éxito a través de la educación”, indicó Andrew C. Sund, Presidente, Universidad St. Augustine. “Una de las metas de nuestra organización es la de romper las barreras hacia la educación para nuestra comunidad y esta asociación con St. Augustine es un paso en esa dirección”, añadió Julio César Cortéz, Presidente, CONFEMEX. CONFEMEX and St. Augustine College establish “Opportunity Scholarship Fund” to aid traditional and adult students. One week left to register to win $8,750 Full Year Scholarship. Chicago, IL – At a recent special reception, the Confederation of Mexican Federations in the Midwest (CONFEMEX) and St. Augustine College announced the formation of the “Opportunity Scholarship Fund”. CONFEMEX and St. Augustine will each contribute to establish an initial scholarship fund of $10,000, with the objective of growing this fund in the future. The purpose of this initiative is to provide access to higher education to individuals and families affiliated with CONFEMEX, who live in the Chicago metropolitan area (regardless of their immigration status), and who show an economic need to continue their college education. Scholarships of $500 and $1,000 will be issued to students who are enrolled at St. Augustine College. At this event, the first three recipients were awarded scholarships of $1,000: Rolando Reynoso, Oscar Jaques y Martha Balleza.
